What is Electronic Punching?

At each location where a circle is marked on the map you will find a control stand similar to the one pictured, right. Check that the control code, in this case 36, corresponds with the code on your control description. Insert your e-stick till you get a beep and a flash.

  • Should you by mistake punch a wrong control, it doesn't matter as long as you get the correct one next, the computer will automatically eliminate the wrong one. The controls must be visited in the correct order from 1 to 12 as shown in the image sample bottom left.

Start times are normally separated by 2-3 minutes, controlled by the start clock and starter.

The procedure for using the e-stick:

Clear –> Check –> Start –> complete course –> Finish Control –> download to

printer –> download to computer –> return e-stick to official.

CLEAR control: clears old information stored in your e-stick.

CHECK control: if you get a beep and a flash, your e-stick is ready to go.

  • If the E-stick doesn’t beep, it may mean that a battery might be flat, so use the puncher (looks like a wee orange stapler) to punch the small holes on the side of your map, to prove you have been to the control.

The START box records your start time (not used for pre-entry events or mass start events)

The FINISH box records your finish time.

After punching the finish box you download to the computer via the red MAIN STATION.

Punch the PRINT STATION to get a printout of your time and splits.
